No Top Gun but a war criminal

The face of a lying war criminal

On May 1, 2003 (i.e. 6 weeks after the illegal invasion of Iraq) Bush's PR machine trumpeted the slogan "Mission Accomplished" to the world .

Many respected writers, e.g. Molly Ivins, blasted the Administration for this blatant lie.
"I've got an even-money bet out that says more Americans will be killed in the peace than in the war and more Iraqis will be killed by Americans in the peace than in the war. Not the first time I've made a bet that I hoped I'd lose."
Time Magazinbe took about five months to come to the conclusion "the mission wasn't accomplished then, and it still is not." Bush stuck to his lie until late 2006 but admitted in December 2006 that the USA was not winning the war.
